Shor in the City - Review

A normal week ends with a phenomenal movie hitting the Box office! Not a usual thing!
But then dont we simply love the unusual and Shor in the City is unusual! or should I say its unusually phenomenal.
So what if this is one of the several movies about the maximum city - Mumbai..The point is Shor in the city (SITC) is one of those movies which stands out in the crowd..before you ask me WHY?? I ll say - Read on!!

SITC is a story  of three different people who are running after their dreams in mumbai..and how their lives inter-tangle. The plot is simple and brilliant. The movie oozes reality and as you get absorbed into the lives of  Abhay (sendhil) Tilak (tusshar) n Sawan (Sundeep) you get a feeling that these characters are straight out of the streets of your very own maximum city!
Crisp editing, brilliant screenplay and apt direction add on to the awesomeness of this movie.

In the acting arena, Tusshar kapoor and Nikhil Dwivedi have impressed but their thunder has been stolen by Pitobash Tripathy..or should I say Mandook, who is hilarious and at his natural best..
Preeti Desai has nothing much to do in the film..Infact if it weren't for all the furore she created prior to the release, she might ve gone unnoticed.

So far so good..but then everyone has an Achilles heel..and for SITC, its the music..Thankfully, the songs are interspersed and merged in the background score so that the continuity doesn't take a hit and while watching the movie, you wont notice this weak link..but m disappointed with Sachin-Jigar. Undoubtedly their songs are good but they seem stereotypical, and the music heavily borrows from Dev D and other Amit Trivedi compositions..Even their prior hit - Party abhi baaki hai is a copied n pasted cocktail of various songs n tunes.
What we need is originality n not a display of your copying skills.
Having said that, I must confess that I love the track - Saibo from this movie..Its a brilliant song..

Now for the ratings, SITC is a brilliant work that I ve seen in the recent times..It definitely deserves a 3.5 / 5

Music was a disappointment which get 2 /5 only for the Saibo!!
